The fall semester brings renewal and reorganization to the lab. Like any university research team, our work follows the rhythm of the academic seasons. One of our core missions is training the next generation, and we welcome each new term with enthusiasm. It’s an opportunity to mentor new students while bidding farewell to those completing their time with us. Since the lab’s founding in 2011, more than 160 students have contributed to our projects!
This fall, we’re pleased to welcome four new members: Marc-André, Valérie, Marianne, and Belinda. With backgrounds in linguistics, speech-language pathology, cognitive neuroscience, and biomedical sciences, they add even more richness to our already multidisciplinary team.
- Marc-André joins us as a PhD student in rehabilitation sciences. His project will focus on the neural foundations of age-related changes in speech production. He will be co-supervised by Lucie Ménard, a professor of phonetics at UQÀM.
- Marianne and Belinda are joining the team as research interns through the immersion stream of the Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences program. They will be working on the MELODIC project.
- Valérie, who completed her PhD with us, returns as a research professional to support Pascale with data analysis for several projects, including NeuroSpin.
Welcome to all!

👉 To help you get to know them better, we asked them a few questions—see the side panels!

Another great piece of news: Shani-Li, who completed a research internship with us this summer, will be staying with us as a research assistant.
We would also like to acknowledge a few departures. Kellyane and Évelyne, two of the lab’s research assistants, have completed their undergraduate degrees and are now pursuing clinical programs in medicine (Kellyane) and speech-language pathology (Évelyne). Congratulations to them on being accepted into these highly competitive programs! We sincerely thank them for their numerous contributions, especially to the NeuroSpin and Repetition projects, and we wish them continued success.
Lastly, Charlie, who worked with us this summer on NeuroSpin, is continuing her studies in language sciences. As the project is on pause this semester, we want to thank her warmly for her work and great energy.
Happy Fall 2025 to all!
