On December 11, 2025, the CERVO Research Center held its Scientific Day and Christmas Party at the ExpoCité Fair Center in Québec City. This event brings together the center’s scientific community every year to celebrate advances in neuroscience research and foster interdisciplinary exchanges.

Several hundred people gathered for a day full of discoveries and discussions. The program featured talks by researchers from the center, information capsules presented by various groups, including CERVO’s social committee, the student association (CERVOLET), and the EDI committee. Students showcased their work through scientific poster sessions, creating numerous opportunities for interaction. The day concluded with a festive Christmas party.

Our lab was well represented at this scientific day! Several team members — Alexandre, Amélie, Maélie, Roxane, Marc-André, and Pascale — attended, and two of them — Maélie and Marc-André — presented posters on their respective projects.

Maélie Royal, a master’s student in Rehabilitation Sciences, presented our major MELODIC project, and more specifically her master’s research project, which is part of MELODIC and focuses on the effects of group activities on speech-in-noise perception among older adults. Her poster attracted considerable interest, particularly from those working on aging. The poster presented by Maélie during CERVO’s Scientific Day is shown in Figure 1.

Marc-André Marion-Flamand, a Ph.D. student in Rehabilitation Sciences whose research interests focus on the neural bases of age-related changes in speech motor control, also took part in CERVO’s Scientific Day by presenting a poster on his ongoing doctoral project. His work, which explores how the aging brain adapts its strategies to control speech production, sparked rich discussions with other students and researchers. The poster presented by Marc-André is shown in Figure 2.

Congratulations to both of you for your participation, and thank you for your contribution to this day filled with exchanges, sharing, and discoveries! These events are essential for building connections within the scientific community and for showcasing the excellence of our research work.
