She completed a part of her academic training in France and a part in Quebec.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We asked Edith questions about her research interests and her motivation to join our lab.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Q \u2013 What do you like about research?<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>I am a speech and language pathologist with a PhD in Biomedical Sciences. My research aims to optimize speech and language therapies with people who suffer from communication disorders mainly due to neurological impairment (aphasia, dementia, etc.). I am therefore interested in the links between sensorimotricity and language\/speech within the context of the embodied cognition approach. This approach provides new therapeutic perspectives for SLP therapies, giving importance to the body (perception and action) to improve language and speech recovery.<\/em><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Q &#8211; <\/em>Why are you interested in our lab&#8217;s research work?<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>The research program in the Lab aims to uncover the neurobiological mechanisms underlying the perception and production of speech and voice in adults. This is fully in line with my research interests: I think that a better understanding of these mechanisms underlying the perception and production of speech (and language) allows to refine and optimize SLP interventions with people suffering from communication disorders. Furthermore, the methods used in the lab, such as MRI and TMS, are cutting-edge. During my PhD, I have had some experience in neuroimaging data acquisition and analysis (MRI). I want to pursue this line of research and develop my skills in neurostimulation as a post-doctoral intern in the lab.<\/em><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Edith, welcome to our lab!
