Seasonal changes are always synonymous with renewals and reorganization for us. As a research team in the academic environment, life in the lab evolves with the pace of the academic seasons. One of our main missions is to train the next generation, so we welcome each new session with enthusiasm. It is an opportunity for us to mentor new students while saying goodbye to those who are finishing their journey with us. Since the laboratory was established in 2011, more than 150 students have contributed to our projects!<\/p>

This fall, we are pleased to welcome four new people: Roxane, Am\u00e9lie, H\u00e9l\u00e8ne and Marc-Antoine! With their training in medicine, neuroscience, psychology, speech therapy and teaching, these new members are joining our already multidisciplinary team. Roxane and Am\u00e9lie join us as students in the Master\u2019s degree in neuroscience (Roxane) and rehabilitation sciences (Am\u00e9lie). Their projects will focus on the relationship between hearing, brain structure and cognition (Roxane) and on the neurological basis of vocal motor control in aging singers and non-singers (Am\u00e9lie). Am\u00e9lie will be co-supervised by Maude Desjardins, a professor at the School of Rehabilitation Sciences and a specialist in the study of the human voice. Exciting projects! H\u00e9l\u00e8ne and Marc-Antoine join the team as research assistants. They will be working on the NeuroSpiN and ElectroStim projects. Another great news: David and Alexandre completed their accelerated transition from master to PhD this summer and continue with us as doctoral students. Congratulations to both of you! In addition, Sarah-\u00c8ve, who has been part of the lab since fall 2023, continues her work on the NeuroSPiN project while starting a PhD in psychology under the supervision of Pascale Tremblay (our lab director) and co-supervision of Carol Hudon, Professor at the School of Psychology and our long-time collaborator. Her project will focus on the analysis of aging speech in singers and non-singers. Congratulations to Sarah-Eve on this important milestone in her academic career !<\/p>

We also want to highlight some departures. Marion and Kellyane finished their summer research internships at the end of summer. We thank them for their contribution and wish them every success in their future projects. Jessica, who completed two internships in 2023 and 2024 before joining us this summer as a research assistant, is leaving to start on a career in medicine. A huge thank you, Jessica, for your impeccable work and your contagious good mood! We hope to see you again at the Faculty of Medicine \ud83d\ude42 Finally, Lydia, who has been with us since 2020, has completed her master\u2019s degree in speech-language pathology and is embarking on a career in the school system. We thank her for her commitment, kindness and her great sense of humour! Thank you also for listening, transcribing and analyzing with extreme thoroughness so many participant recordings! We will miss you!<\/p>
